Carnival Cinemas is a small theater located off of Taylor Drive on the outer edge of downtown Red Deer. Movies that have already played through the bigger theaters are shown here for a cheaper price than that of theaters like Cineplex. The staff are very friendly, and the atmosphere is quite welcoming. The auditoriums are simple and dark, but pleasant with comfortable chairs that slightly recline so you can better relax to watch the movie. It is a great place to enjoy new release movies at an affordable price.
Occasionally, Carnival Cinemas will host video gaming tournaments that are open to everyone. Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U are games that they have been hosted in past tournaments, they will probably add more games to the list in the future. There is a small entry fee of five dollars and there are prizes for third, second, first place. All kinds of people attend these tournaments, everyone has a great time whether they are a casual or competitive player. These tournaments are also great for meeting new people in the community with similar interests. Overall, these tournaments are a very fun experience.
